We gather enough money to fund development, like through kickstarter or something. Someone else picks up the project and does it for free. It may or may not be released in whenever. I work on this nonprofit remake in my freetime.

talked to a friend about this and he noticed that while the assets are free to use in commercial projects, we're not allowed to make clones of games made by their author.
